Offering the uniqueness of a hand-me-down homemade recipe Maggies Shortbread has a history spanning over 100 years. In 1871 the first "Maggie", Maggie Murray was born in Scotland. By all accounts our Great-Gran was the first to come up with this mouth-watering shortbread we all love today.

1906 was the year our second "Maggie" came on the scene when Rita Sneddon was born, also in Scotland. Baptized Margaret Sneddon, our Gran took over the recipe and passed along all of the secrets to our third "Maggie".

On March 22, 1936 Margaret Murray McDonough was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Mom is credited with bringing automation to the secret recipe when she introduced a mixer to help with the dough process. However, even to this day, most of the work is done by hand. Maggie number "3" also brought the recipe to Canada.

September 9, 1965 was the day that our fourth "Maggie", Margaret B, was born in Hamilton, Ontario and she can be credited with bringing the finished product to you the consumer. Our recipe has long been a family secret and we are proud to say that Four generations of Maggies have created the finest shortbread ever made.
